General Maintenance Assistant

Although this role is advertised as full-time, we will consider part-time, job share and alternative working pattern proposals where possible.
about the role
To ensure the Property Repairs Team is developed as a flagship service that is great, consistent, and modern.
You will be required to demonstrate relevant trade skills and knowledge through the provision of a high-quality service, achieving recognised industry, and believe housing standards.
To deliver a first-class, effective, customer-orientated service to internal and external stakeholders whilst maximising high standards of health and safety, performance, and value for money. All aspects of the role will be undertaken using a multi-skilled approach to complement our right-first-time ethos.
The successful candidate will be able to take on a wide range of minor repairs, including but not exhaustive of:
- Repairs
Minor plumbing, such as fixing dripping taps, toilet seats or running toilet cisterns. Minor joinery, such as easing doors, renewing floorboards or adjusting kitchen units. Minor plaster repairs, such as repairing areas of plasterwork up to 1sqmt
- Painting and decorating
Painting and decorating doors, windows, walls, ceilings, and other parts of our properties. Wallpaper stripping and filling holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
- Clearances and cleaning
Clearances of customers household belongings, properties whilst at works kept clean and tidy. Property cleanses, washing down surfaces, ceramic goods, cleaning floor coverings and windows, bringing our properties up to a lettable cleaning standard.
- Landscaping/Groundworks
Maintaining property exterior, including path repairs, gully clearances and minor pointing to brickwork.
General Maintenance Assistants should be able to work safely and efficiently, follow our safety procedures, and work well as a team or independently. They should also have good communication skills and be able to interact well with co-workers.
- Undertake all aspects of the role, in a way that is agile and flexible.
- Adopting a multi-skilled whole job approach to completing repairs, that achieves believe housing and recognised industry standards of compliance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Take responsibility and ownership for individual performance, productivity and high standards of work ensuring a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Operate ICT hardware and systems in line with protocols, in an effective and efficient way, receiving and updating accurate and relative information when required and in real time.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the service, by suggesting initiatives that may improve service delivery and working positively to champion, develop and implement any new ideas/processes that are introduced.
