grants available to projects bridging the gap for people during the cost of living crisis
When it is cold and dark outside, it can be tempting to hide indoors. But there is evidence that socialising is good for your mental health.
Contact your local community centre or ask your neighbours if there is a group or activity near you where you can enjoy a little company, with the bonus of staying warm while there.
This winter, a network of more than 130 Warm Spaces has been set up across County Durham, with funding from the County Durham Community Foundation and Durham County Council.
You can search for your nearest Warm Space online at www.durhamlocate.org.uk
If you can’t use the internet and don’t know anyone who can look it up, your local advice service can help.
Call Citizens Advice County Durham on 0808 2787821.
Keep Warm, Keep Well community grants of £500 are being awarded by believe housing to not-for-profit groups, hosting projects near you this winter. If you know of an organisation that needs our help, please advise them to contact us.
