regenerating brandon
believe housing worked with residents to develop a masterplan of proposals to regenerate the central part of Brandon, near Durham. Work is ongoing in the community as we continue to create thriving, safe and sustainable places and homes that people want to live in.
Long-term masterplan
Following extensive consultation, the Brandon masterplan was created in 2022 with the aim of delivering innovative development that will bring about positive change over 25 years, enhancing the appearance of the area and bringing benefits including new homes, energy efficiency, and opportunities for residents such as connectivity, training and employment.

first off-gas new build homes
A former pub site in the heart of Brandon has been regenerated with 12 beautiful energy efficient new homes.
The development at Mill Close in Brandon, near Durham consists of three two-bed and nine three-bed houses.
Each property comes with an air-source heat pumps, solar panels and battery storage units which will allow customers to store electricity for later use, and infrastructure to enable electrical vehicle charging, as well as individual driveways and gardens.
We are currently seeking planning permission to build a mix of bungalows and family homes on an adjacent brownfield site, as we continue support the regeneration of central Brandon through investment in existing homes and the delivery of new ones.

believe housing is proposing to develop about 100 new homes in Brandon.
If the scheme is given planning permission, a mix of bungalows and two, three and four-bed houses would be built in cul-de-sacs overlooking a green spine.
The landscaped area will provide a safe environment for children to play and residents to socialise. It will also support biodiversity, link different areas of the development, connect with existing footpaths, and improve drainage.
All the homes will be energy efficient affordable housing available through shared ownership, Rent to Buy or affordable rent and each would have its own driveway, garden, and electric vehicle charging point.
Community feedback gathered online and during in-person consultation events helped shape the scheme, which would breathe new life into the former site of Silver Courts and Vicarage Flats, and land at Rowan Lea and Red Firs.

The proposal to build new homes on the former site of Silver Courts and Vicarage Flats and bungalows at Rowan Lea and Red Firs followed a decision to decommission and demolish those homes because they had become outdated and no longer met the needs or aspirations of customers.
The believe housing Board fully considered the outcome of consultation with customers when making its decision about the future of Silver Courts and Vicarage Flats, in July 2021, and then Rowan Lea and Red Firs, in October 2022.
In both cases most customers who responded agreed with the proposal to demolish the properties.
Residents have since been supported to find and settle into new homes.
Alongside the homes believe housing provides, it offers a range of support for customers and communities including an extensive community grants programme.
And it has several commercial properties including Brandon’s One Stop shop which opened in 2022.
